Adoption Kittens Cats
Rescue & Adoption

Hawaii is in a critical state of feline overpopulation.  Numerous small rescue organizations struggle to save critically sick, injured, and dumped babies every day with little to no money.  Volunteers rally in foster care for these non-profits and are overwhelmed as well.  Instead of our state implementing funding for TNR (Trap, Neuter, release) our leaders do nothing to assist in the crisis.  It has been proven in no-kill states and cities that sterilization is the answer to overpopulation.  The answer is TNR.  Spay and neutering, giving our kitty colonies the “right to roam” and respect these little lives because to no fault of their own they are left to fend for themselves in a hostile state. Rescue saves these wonderful babies where other organizations wont.

Purr plays a part in rescue and works hard to find furrever homes for our deserving sweet, innocent fur babies.  We always have the availability to find you a new family member.  Our kitties are rescued from the streets where they would never have survived.

I partner with wonderful rescue organizations that work tirelessly to save these babies.

Let us know what you are looking for and Purr will do our best to find the perfect fit.  The Purrfect love for your home!

Boarding

Love: I have lots of love for our purr family. There will be no shortage of patience, love and care. My heart is these furr loves and I will always put them first.

Enrichment: Lots of toys for interaction and independent play time is always available. A large monitor plays birds, squirrels, and other favorite things I know my babies enjoy watching. Calming scents are available to soothe the less than social butterflies. Cubbies are there when they just want to be left alone.

Safety: Cleanliness is a must in my home for the safety of your loved ones and mine. Our enclosures have lots of room in real estate along with vertical enrichment. Free roaming is on a safe schedule often,
every day, according to the comfort level of your loved one.

Security:  I want your family members to experience a secure setting with comfort amenities that I would give my own babies. My face is the constant they will see every day all day; they will be most comfortable with familiarity in one face all the time.

Amenities: I already mentioned the T.V. monitor, soft places to lounge stretch and nap, even the hard cool spots that my loves tend to gravitate to. There is a safe pet screened in ceiling to floor door for
fresh air, fan, and an air conditioner for during the warm humid summer days.

Special Needs: I have experience in administering medications and applying any other special needs your baby may require, this can be discussed per board.

Extra Fun: I love taking pictures and video. You will be annoyed often with pics of your fur babies. I will not apologize.

Moving Here: Purr can pick up your loved one if they are shipped here early. We understand what moving here entails and bringing your furr baby can be stressful. I will happily pick up and board your loved one until you get here and get settled. This can be discussed per case.

ABOUT US

Aloha and Welcome to Purr

My name is Jules, owner, and operator. Purr is a safe, nurturing, and loving home away from home when our purr baby’s humans must trust someone else to care for them. My hands on approach in our private setting gives you peace of mind while you are away. I have transformed this room in my home with that in mind.  How this all got started you ask? I have been in the F&B, food and beverage, business all of my life. I have worked in every aspect of this industry with my last job as director of F&B at the Honolulu Club. 2020 was not kind to our industry with shutdowns and eventual closures. About the start of 2020 I got involved in kitty rescue and fostering.  After many fosters rotating in and out of my home, my love for this desperate need of rescue, rehab and adoption grew to more than I could have imagined. My volunteer partnership with a few nonprofit allows me to continue to rescue. My passion for rescue has made me aware of the need for good boarding. There are options on Oahu but currently what sets us apart is the private one-on-one care with the comfort and familiarity in a home setting. Of course, the eventual goal is to have an off-site adoption and boarding center but never compromising my original mission of one-on-one care and attention.  I love on your fur babies as I do on mine.

Adoptions are in high demand on our islands, so babies are always available when they are ready for their furrever home.

Boarding your loved one is my pleasure and privilege.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers
Why should I board my furry family member?

Are you going on vacation, deployment, moving, renovating your home, fumigating your home? These are only a few reasons why you would need to board your furry purry loved ones.
When our cats are left alone, they can have anxiety, stress, they can be lonely and confused. In a perfect world a house sitter is best, but we know how difficult that can be to find. Humans can have equal stress leaving their loved ones alone, anything can happen, illness, injury, storm, or fire. The decision to board is the best decision for the safety and health of your family member.

Will my kitty be locked up in a cage?

Purr enclosures are open and comfortable with private cubbies for the less social and scared babies.  Daily free roam happens here as often as possible as long as your baby is comfortable.  Constant interaction with your feline family is important, contrary to popular belief kitties are very social creatures, I am here for them all the time so they will never be alone day and night.  Just like home!

What do I need to provide concerning vaccines and medical information?

A recent vaccine record is required, update your cat’s vaccine one week before your scheduled visit. No fleas at Purr, let’s keep it that way.  If your kitty has fleas upon arrival, I will medicate and you will be charged and/or required to leave Purr, so please give your cat a topical flea treatment prior to the day of your arrival. I will need proof that treatment was given.  This is the best way to keep my facility flea free and your furr baby flea free.  If any special needs or medications need to be administered, a recent record of administration should be given and special needs instructions clearly provided.  Medication administering will be discussed prior to booking.

Are there any rules concerning non spayed or neutered boarders?

Do I need to bring my furr babies food?

Your kitty may be picky or have a special diet, whatever the case may be, you will be required to bring all food and supplements that your loved one would normally eat at home.  Bring enough for the duration of the stay and a little extra just in case!  We can discuss treat options for your fur baby, it is included but will not be given unless authorized by the human.

Should I bring anything else to ease my babies stay?

Please bring a favorite toy and blanket for familiarity.  If by chance your item becomes soiled and washing is not an option, it will be discarded by Purr for sanitary reasons.
